There’s something magical about making caramels by hand.
Maybe it’s the rhythm of stirring, the scent of butter and the vanilla swirling through the kitchen, or the way golden caramel clings to the spoon — rich, warm, and full of memories. At Sugar + Spoon Caramels, “handcrafted” isn’t a trend. It’s a legacy.
My great-grandmother Edith made her first batch of caramel on a woodburning stove, with no shortcuts and no gadgets — just a small saucepan and a heart full of love. That tradition has passed through hands and hearts over decades. It’s the spirit I bring into every single batch I make at Sugar + Spoon.
What “Handcrafted” Really Means
When I say handcrafted, I really mean it. My caramels are made in small batches, cooked low and slow to achieve that signature smoothness you can only get when someone’s watching. Not supervised by a machine, but rather a real person who knows exactly when the caramel is just right.
Once cooled, every piece is hand-cut and individually wrapped in wax paper. It’s a rhythm that grounds me, the kind of quiet work that makes you feel more connected to what you’re creating.
I source the ingredients intentionally, choosing high-quality butter, sugar, cream, and sea salt, because the quality of the ingredients matters just as much as the hands that enjoy them. My handmade caramel candy is gourmet. A little luxury you can share with your friends, family, and loved ones.
A Slower, Sweeter Way
There’s faster candy out there. But there’s no better caramel. Mass production can make a lot of things — but not connection. Not memory. Not that moment when someone opens a caramel, pops it in their mouth and immediately says, “Oh my gosh, this tastes like my childhood.”
From My Hands to Yours
I hope when you unwrap a Sugar + Spoon caramel, you feel the warmth of the kitchen it came from. I hope it reminds you that sweetness doesn’t have to be rushed — and that the best things are still made by hand.
Because around here, handcrafted isn’t a flashy buzzword to grab your attention. It’s a promise. A promise to quality sweets filled with connection, love, and, yes, legacy.
